At Looney Labs we believe that we can make a difference in the world. That is why a portion of the profits from the sales of EcoFluxx will be donated to groups working towards generating environmental awareness and to restoring the Earth. The EcoFluxx Foundation was established to choose which organizations are to receive these donations, and to provide a forum for all our fans and friends to talk about environmental issues, especially about things we can do in our daily lives to live more sustainably.

Sustainable Development

I think Wikipedia's essay on sustainable development is very complete and accurate. Check it out, read about it, and lets talk about sustainability on the Ecolist!

Ecological Economics

Wikipedia's essay on ecological economics is pretty good, although it focuses primarily on the American perspective and founding fathers.

Why does Looney Labs makes its games in the US?

We could easily be making our pyramids in China. It is much cheaper to make them there, but we would not know anything about the work conditions nor the environmental regulation enforcement.

At Looney Labs we deeply care about the environment and working conditions of the places and people that are making our games. Therefore, we have decided to make our plastic pyramids here in the US, where we know that environmental regulations are being upheld and that we are not using sweatshop labor. If one day we find a place where we know environmental and social conditions are as we like, (maybe Mexico?), we might one day move our pyramid making over there. If you have any ideas on how to make our pyramids in a more economical way while at the same time being friendly towards the environment, please let us know!

  • Small packaging. At Looney Labs we know how much garbage can be generated in packaging materials. The gaming industry has certain standards for packaging that we cannot control, but within those boundaries, we make the effort to produce our games utilizing the least packaging possible. Please be mindful to reuse and/or recycle our packagings.
  • Recycling. At Looney Labs we recycle everything: aluminum cans, tin cans, bottles, glass, paper, batteries, old computers, etc... We had our doubts about recycling paper, but thanks to the input of many of our fans that came forth with economic, energetic and environmental data we have decided that recycling paper is still a worth while activity for the environment.
  • Reusing. At our warehouse, Brian reuses as many materials as possible: papers, boxes, peanuts. Thanks Brian! At Looney Labs head-quarters we reuse paper, water bottles, bags, etc. Alison is really good at utilizing a piece of paper to it's maximum. Thanks Alison! And Kristin and Andy have been refilling and reusing their water bottles, dropping the plastic usage of Wunderland. Thanks guys!
